In the works: 2025-2029 AIACV Strategic Planning Process
Our refresh of the AIACV Strategic Plan is well underway! As chair of the Strategic Plan Task Force, I’d like to share with our AIACV members where things stand with this important planning process.
Background
In 2010 AIACV published its first 5-year Strategic Plan. In the one-page document the Central Valley Chapter defined a mission statement, outlined goals and identified actions to pursue. In 2015 the Strategic Plan was restructured and synthesized, using Values, Mission and Vision to set the purpose of the chapter, and three Objectives to provide a strategic framework. In 2020 the Strategic Plan was redrawn to preface the graphically rich 9-page document with Mission, Values, and Vision followed by four Strategic Goals and specific actions to undertake with a timeline. This 2020-2025 Strategic Plan built upon the framework of previous plans and captured the aims of the chapter at the time, just prior to the 2020 pandemic stay-at-home orders.
The AIACV chapter is now revisiting needs, priorities, and aspirations to reorient ourselves for 2025-2029. We are asking ourselves, again, where is AIACV going; what categories of endeavors capture our needs and wants; what can we accomplish / what do we strive for; and how do we get there. We have previous Strategic Plans to build upon, which have served us well, and we are guided by the AIA and AIACA Strategic Plans to frame the purpose of the AIA organization as a whole. Yet, we are poised to hone our strategies as appropriate for our chapter.
Status update
Starting in February of 2024 we have:
Engaged with a Strategic Plan Task Force of AIACV members representing active participants and newer members to review, question, and listen. We have familiarized ourselves with what our current position is, and are preparing to revise, update and test possible adjustments to our Strategic Plan.
Issued a survey to AIACV membership and leadership to gather feedback and thoughts. The survey results are compiled and are being assessed.
Invited AIACV members and committee chairs to an upcoming workshop this month to dive into details of Strategic Planning Goals as necessary.
Next steps and opportunities to provide comment
In the fall we will formulate our proposed 2025-2029 Strategic Plan and coordinate with committees and the AIACV Board of Directors to gather final input. The finalized plan should be ready and published on the AIACV website by December 2024. Then, during the 2025-2029 period, we will hold specific milestones to have AIACV leadership circle back, evaluate progress and tweak goals as necessary.
I believe my fellow task force team members would agree - this process has been enlightening, engaging, and enjoyable! At the same time, we don’t take on this task lightly – as it is clear this plan will shape how we focus our energies over the upcoming years.
Please know that should AIACV members like to provide input – we welcome your comments. You may use one of the following means to share your views, ask questions, or offer suggestions:
Fill out the online survey and comment form - we will keep this form live until September 1st for any continuing input: survey to AIACV membership
