Supplemental Dues Eliminated!
What, precisely, are supplemental dues, and why have they appeared on our membership invoices for so many years? In essence, supplemental dues serve to augment the local AIA member dues each calendar year. Of the over 200 local AIA chapters across the United States, only 14 continue to employ this practice. Architecture firms have been asked to contribute $100 for each licensed architect and $150 for each non-licensed individual within their ranks, in addition to standard membership fees. While some past presidents have sought to abolish supplemental dues, these contributions have historically generated between $25,000 and $40,000 annually, a significant sum that has proven challenging to replace.
After months of thoughtful discussion, I am thrilled to announce that the AIACV Board of Directors have unanimously voted to eliminate supplemental dues starting in 2025! Additionally, we will not be raising local dues. However, this decision leaves us with a substantial budget deficit to address, and we sincerely seek your support—both through your AIA membership renewal and by fostering increased Allied and Sustaining Partnerships.
AIACV remains committed to delivering exceptional value to your membership through a variety of events and outreach initiatives. We encourage you to renew today!
