The California Energy Design Assistance (CEDA) program supports architects, engineers, and project teams in designing high-performance, energy-efficient buildings across California. Through CEDA, project teams can access:
No-cost, project-specific decarbonization analysis
Long-term energy savings and improved building performance
Financial incentives for both owners and design teams
Working alongside project teams, CEDA provides tailored guidance to support informed design decisions that improve building performance and reduce long-term operating costs. The program supports a wide range of project types, including commercial, public, industrial, agricultural, and high-rise multifamily buildings.
Since 2021, more than 1,230 projects have enrolled in CEDA, with approximately 30% pursuing an all-electric pathway—demonstrating growing momentum toward more sustainable building design across the state.
In addition to early design support, the CEDA Heat Pump Initiative offers a streamlined pathway for later-stage projects that include high-efficiency heat pumps. This initiative supports California’s goal of installing 6 million heat pumps by 2030 by helping projects move forward with electrification more efficiently.
Engaging with CEDA early in the design process can unlock greater savings, flexibility, and performance outcomes for your project.
