Project Manager – Higher Education

Based out of either our Sacramento or Oakland office, you will be responsible for leading projects, on budget and on schedule, providing overall management of the client relationship, expectations and satisfaction, and leading and directing education projects. This role supports a growing education practice.
Essential responsibilities include:
- Oversight and management of the activities of multiple projects, including client and contract requirements, through all phases of project development
- Actively manage project budgets, schedules, and project planning, serving as project liaison through project completion and to the satisfaction of our clients
- Estimate fees, determine scope of work, prepare proposals and contracts, facilitate consultant proposals and monitor adherence to terms
- Coordinate the workload through all phases of project development from entitlements through construction documentation into construction administration including active leadership during construction administration, responding to RFIs, submittals and Contractor coordination.
- Monitor and review work to ensure that the design and production documents meet all code specifications, in-house budget, and client construction budget requirements.
- Prepare and implement effective plans of action for resolving problem project issues.
- Lead project teams by monitoring staffing needs and coordinating with clients’ staff and their internal customers, architects, engineers, contractors, and vendors.
- Participate in project pursuits, proposals, and project interviews to win work.
- Present project information internally, externally, and manage presentations to clients.
- Preference for experience with California education clients (Community College, CSU, UC) including agency review and construction documents.
Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree in Architecture, or related experience, with 10-15 years of experience, five of which as a Project Manager managing small, medium and large education projects, is required. Solid experience in using project management tools (Deltek, Smartsheet) is required, along with collaborative people skills to effectively manage, provide positive direction, and lead architectural staff. Excellent communication and public speaking skills are required to participate in interviews and client presentations.
Our office is 100% Revit, and for this position, familiarity with Revit is required so as to effectively lead a team, as well as have the ability to navigate around a model, create views, create schedules, measure, and dimension as well as review drawings and guide teams in Revit-based workflows.
