Architectural Job Captain / Senior Drafter

The Position

Aspen Street Architects is seeking an experienced Architectural Job Captain or Senior Drafter to join our Angels Camp office.

The successful candidate will be more than a production drafter. This person will work closely with our project architects and project managers to organize, coordinate and complete architectural drawing sets from existing-conditions documentation through construction documents and agency approval.

We are looking for someone who understands how buildings go together, can identify coordination issues and takes pride in producing complete, accurate and buildable documents.

 

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain architectural models and drawings using Revit and AutoCAD.

• Produce coordinated design-development and construction-document sets for remodels, additions and new construction.

• Develop plans, elevations, sections, details, schedules and other project documentation.

• Coordinate architectural documents with civil, structural, mechanical, plumbing and electrical consultants.

• Assist project architects and project managers with building-code, accessibility, life-safety and agency requirements.

• Perform field surveys and accurately document existing conditions.

• Assist with agency plan-check responses and drawing revisions.

• Review project documents for completeness, consistency and coordination.

• Support construction administration through submittal and RFI review, site observations and preparation of supplemental documentation.

• Communicate effectively with clients, consultants, contractors, regulatory agencies and other members of the project team.

• Help guide and review the work of less-experienced production staff when appropriate.

Qualifications

• At least five years of architectural drafting, production or Job Captain experience.

• Strong proficiency in Revit and working knowledge of AutoCAD.

• Demonstrated experience preparing architectural construction documents.

• Working knowledge of building systems, construction methods, detailing and consultant coordination.

• Ability to organize and advance drawing sets with limited supervision.

• Strong attention to detail and commitment to document quality.

• Good written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.

• Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet project deadlines.

• Ability to travel occasionally to project sites throughout Central and Northern California.

• College-level education in architecture, drafting, design or a related field is preferred; equivalent professional experience will be considered.

Preferred Experience

• Healthcare architecture or construction.

• HCAI experience, formerly known as OSHPD.

• Hospital, clinic or skilled-nursing facility projects.

• Agency review and plan-check coordination.

• Construction administration and field observation.

• Architectural degree or progress toward professional licensure.

HCAI/OSHPD experience is strongly preferred but is not required. Candidates with strong technical-documentation skills and an interest in developing healthcare expertise are encouraged to apply.

 

Compensation and Benefits
