The Chapter is excited to share that the American Institute of Architects California Council (AIACC) has selected Dreyfuss & Blackford Architects to receive the 2013 Firm Award. This is the first time a Sacramento firm has been selected.
The Firm Award is the highest honor the AIACC can bestow on an architectural practice. It recognizes firms that have consistently produced distinguished architecture for a period of at least 10 years. Equally important, the award also recognizes mentoring, collaboration among individuals, and significant contributions made to the profession in areas of design, research, planning, technology and practice.
As many of your know, the firm has designed regional landmarks including the Sacramento Municipal Utility District (SMUD) Headquarters building (listed on the National Register of Historic Places); CalPERS Lincoln Plaza Headquarters (winner of numerous awards including an AIACC Honor Award); and the California Emergency Management Agency Headquarters.
They have also produced significant planning projects throughout Northern California, including campus master plans (CSU Sacramento, CSU Fresno, CHP Academy), Airport master plans (San Francisco, Sacramento), and numerous judicial and civic center plans. They recently completed a new headquarters complex for California ISO, the entity that manages the State’s high-voltage electrical grid. Work currently on the boards includes the Powerhouse Science Center and the Yolo County Courthouse.
