Register TODAY ~ 7th Annual “Codes Conversation”

Attend the ONLY regionally-focused codes event in Sacramento ~ the AIACV Codes Conversation ~ now in it’s 7th year!

This year there are two components to the event:

Part 1, Thursday, September 30th–A panel discussion that brings together codes officials from regional jurisdictions to share and discuss what is new and upcoming in the codes arena. Bring your specific questions.

Part 2, Friday, October 1st–A half-day seminar will cover significant code changes that impact your practice. Speaker Steve Winkel, FAIA will discuss the 2010 California Residential Code. For the first time, our state has adopted a portion of the International Residential Code—changing many structural and non-structural requirements. These changes go into effect on January 1, 2011. Additionally, Steve will provide an update on ADA provisions as well as the new CalGreen Code.

About the Presenter, Steve Winkel, FAIA PE CAsp

Steve joined Preview Group in 2005 and manages the firm’s San Francisco Bay Area office. He has over 39 years experience as an architect, engineer, landscape architect and recently became certified as an access specialist in California. Steve is currently serving his third 4-year term as the Architect member of the California Building Standards Commission. He is also on the Board of Directors of the National Institute of Building Sciences and is chair of the FEMA/NIBS Code Resource Support Committee which reviews and comments on building code changes related to seismic safety. Steve has served as chair of the American Institute of Architects Codes and Standards Committee. He is the author, along with noted illustrator Frank Ching, of the well-received book Building Codes Illustrated for John Wiley & Sons, now in its third edition. As both an architect and civil engineer with experience in project management, code analysis and quality assurance reviews, Steve brings a unique perspective and broad knowledge base to his presentations.
